Pappa Poopy has a great knowledge of the band... however, some people either love "The Elder" or hate it. I LOVE it. I thought it was brilliantly put together.
In my opinion, here is my list of Favs in order not including the albums you listed already...

Tier 1 - Unmasked, Hot in the Shade, Crazy Nights
Tier 2 - Asylum, The Elder.
Must haves:
Tier 1 - Alive!, Destroyer, Creatures of the Night
Tier 2 - Rock and Roll Over, Lick it Up, Love Gun
Tier 3 - Dynasty, Hotter than Hell, Kiss
Tier 4 - Animalize, Dressed to Kill, Psycho Circus
Tier 5 - Alive II, Alive III, Alive IV
Tier 6 - the rest of 'em
I hope this helps you out. There is a really neat boot out there that is cool for historical reference, if nothing else. It is the Wicked Lester sessions. Some cool, some cheesy.

Detroit Rock City was their best album in my opinion. If you start buying them start with this one.

for starters buy destroyer, love gun , and rock and roll over.. then buy all the rest made pre 1983 one at a time.. the rest are up to you.
