I work at a job that provides great pay AND benefits (much better then I did as a teacher).

I feel as if I am going mad (well "mad" might be a a bit overstating it,)

however.

I like working with people that involve caring for others (that's why I chose teaching, but I couldn't pay my bills) and in turn ALSO are supportive of the people they work with.

This is not the scenario of this position.

As a secondary part to this question: IF you did say yes to "have any of you felt "displaced" at a job?," answer this queation:

"What did you do to resolve it?"

Yes, I felt a bit displaced when I lost my job when corporate bean counters decided to move our teams function to Brazil.

I resolved it by opening my own business and thereby learned a new lesson ie: "you can eat for much less, it just does not taste as good"

Not every job i have had in the past has been with people I would save if there was a fire. Not sure I would even urinate on them to ease the pain. I guess my answer is this. I have and will work for lower pay to be with people i like. Life shouldn't be about working, but it is. We as humans like "things" Things being anything that someone wants, and most have to work for it. I would rather be happy. Lower your standard of living and teach the kids.

Yes . . .Years ago I worked as a typist in a business office. I hated the job because I had studied commercial art in college and hated any kind of business courses. I felt out of place in the business enviroment but I needed the money to exist so I stuck it out until I had earned enough money to provide me with the means to seek a suitable position in the field of my choice. It took a little time and effort but was worth it. Never give up to pursue your dream even if it takes a few extra steps to get there.
