The psp is the better system if you are talking about options like movies and music as well as surfing the web. The psp also has the better graphics as well, but as for games the psp is still very young so it does not have a huge library of games yet, and the battery for the psp sucks. The ds light is also a good system, up to this point it has out-sold the psp, partly because of the price and partly because the game-play is very good. They have a Strong library to go with the system as well, but it can't do things like play movies like the psp. Both are good solid systems, but i like the psp better for the graphics and options, but memory sticks and other goodies will set you back some so be pre-paired.

I happen to like the ds. Both have some really great games, but the touch screen and microphone add some nice interactivity that (when it's actually used) really adds a new dimension to the gameplay. Unfortunately, not enough developers are taking advantage of these features (which is slowly changing). Each has inherited it's own star franchises from Sony and Nintendo, which might sway your decision. As might the UMD for the PSP, though apparently an adaptor is in the works for the DS, but that means more money.

As of now, I'd definately have to say DS Light. While not as "powerful" in pure graphics and processor power, it more than makes up for it with its low price-point (usually 129.99) and awsome library of games. The DS also has an awsome system where you can download game demos from certain "hot spots" in places such as Wal-Marts, Targets, TRUs, EB Games, etc.
The PSP will be cool once you can purchase old Playstation 1 ports online, but that may not be for a while... It also has a sweet internet browser, but the video and music features are lamer than FDR's legs.
If you're looking for a serious game system with good games, the DS light is the best.

PSP, although I haven't got one til next year but I search for it and watch images, videos, news and I really can't wait to buy it but my mom say I have to wait til 9 grader( next year). I really like the game Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and I wonder if they make the game Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix, God of War, or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that's will be fun because if you going some where like a trip, camping, or picnic, you're able to bring it with those great games, DS is good too but I think PSP is better, my friends all have PSPs, that make me angry of waiting to buy it, you're lucky!!!

I have both, I like both. But if I had to choose, it would have to the psp, because of superior graphics, homebrew capabilities, firmware updates every once and awile, and the customization of it. But I do like the innovation the DS has with the touch screen.

I prefer the DS, the game are quite creative on it. It also has a wide selection of good quality games, including: Lost Magic, Mario 64*4, Mario Kart, and the upcomming Final Fantasy III.

Also, the DS is cheaper overall.
