Kibitzing is when other players can see your tiles and offer suggestions as to what move you should make.

if you are watching a game but not playing.if the players in room allow it,you can click on kibitz button and see each players hand/tiles.most players hide/turn off kibitz option.cheating is frowned on and if you reveal players hand you will get booted FAST!

kibitzing means the same thing if it is on-line or not. It is someone who is not playing telling you how you should play.
