I close friend of mine is stuck in another state.
She is flat broke. She is staying with a friend at the moment, but needs to find a way back home in the next week or she'll lose everything she's got back home.

Are there any places she can seek out for help getting back home?
Please no insulting answers. She's a good person, she just found herself in a situation where she had to go to another state to take care of something but had to stay longer than planned and now she has no way to get back home.

Any help would be great. I really feel for her. If I could I would get her up here no question about it, but I'm in a tight bind myself too.

Traveler's Aid might help her or maybe the Salvation Army.

GreyHound Bus service used to have a program for runaways and emergencys where the bus tickets were at a reduced or free cost ...as I recall ..... But the Charities or Salvation army folks are good ideas .....

I know its not the safest way to go these days ... i know a "Guy" not a girl who was stuck and made up a sign at a truck stop ..... he got help from truckers to get where he was going ... but he had a mucila talent and provided the entertainment .... I don't think I recomend that one to your friend unless she a martial arts expert these days .....

Has she tried charity groups in the area? I don't know about the states, but here in Canada I've heard that places like the Salvation Army may be able to help if the situation seems legitimate. Let her know to check local church groups that do charity work as well. Good luck to your friend!!!

I guess that she should start asking all of her friends and family for some help to get back home. She could also try the Salvation Army or some churches.

If you have a job you can get a payday loan then western union her the money, unless it's a lot of money that is needed, maybe go to your or her parents and see if they will help.

salvation army and catholic charities are two very good organizations who can help your friend. they will give her a voucher to get back on and possibly give her food. if those aren't available, she should check at a local church.

She doesn't have family or something to help? Maybe she can try a local church to help her out if she pays them back or something.

see if you can apply for any credit cards at all so that you can buy her a ticket out of her situation. buy her the ticket and then cut up the credit card so you don't use it for anything useless.

good luck to you and your friend.

How about hitch hiking??

If it really is as bad as you say, hitchhiking is not that bad.

Plus women are statiscally more prone to getting picked up.

It's all about how bad you want it, and how far you are willing to go.
