A few years ago, I put some old rocks in a shoe box. I left them over night and in the morning the box was full of pure gold. Can anyone tell me how I did it?

Rocks typically contain elements from the top of the periodic table which can be transmuted into heavier elements in a supernova explosion. This effect can be replicated in a high energy physics lab, but the electric bill would be horrendous. Stick to imagining gold.

First you must find a rock that is made of gold. Then you melt the rock and swirl it in a metal pan so that the heavier gold stays in the middle while the lighter junk get's spun outside. Then you have gold!

ok, first you must have access to a thermo-nuclear reactor powerfull enough to break an atom down into it's smallest pieces. a star should do just fine. what you do is you throw your rocks into the star, wait several millennia, just untill the star either goes dwarf, or (perferably) goes super giant, leading to a super nova. of the matereals ejected from the star, your stones will more than likely have been broken down into other matereals, such as Hydrogen, Helium, Oxygen, Silicone, Argon, Neon, Carbon, Alluminum and possibly gold. collect your gold atoms and leave happy!
