9/11 affected so many people in an "instant". It's a day of national mourning, remebering what happened so no one will ever forget.

Things like 911 DO NOT happen everyday. Five thousand civilians are not murdered by terrorists in a single deliberate strike EVERYDAY. 911 is the defining historic event of the beginning of the 21st century. And people are still dying from the fall out of that attack. It will be taught in history courses as a catalyst for the war we are now in. Anywhere in the world that something like 911 happens it is going to become a national day of remembrance and mourning whether it happens in New Zealand, Pakistan or Japan. It is not just because it happened in America. It is because it was a shocking, unbelievable and tragic event that many still have problems dealing with. People are not selfish because they feel grief over the thousands of violent deaths of their fellow human beings. It is selfish and callous however to disdain their grief. Those people didn't die of natural causes. They didn't die of starvation or disease. They were murdered intentionally. And people have a right to grieve. It doesn't mean they are indifferent to the suffering outside of the world they live in or that they don't care about starving children in Africa. Many people were affected personally by 911. If your mother or someone you loved had died in 911 wouldn't you take a moment to think about them on that day?

I think you mean "mourn". Terrorist don't drop bombs on huge business buildings in the U.S. killing thousands of people at once every day. A lot of people's lives becomes very chaotic that day and several people lost loved ones. We all feel their pain whether or not something like that has happened to us. A lot of firefighters and policemen died as well doing their jobs to protect and help the victims. How would you feel if one of your close family members was on one of the planes that was going to fly into the buildings? The whole thing was a tragedy to America. We should not only mourn the tragedy but remember the lives lost.

I mourn every single terrible thing that happens, regardless of where it's at.. But September 11 is mourned so much because everyone' lives were changed forever. In a quick instant we all new that America would never be the same. And it seems like it only got worse from there, The war with Iraq, the Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and other things.

I don't agree with you. I think it is something that we need to remember. A lot of people died that day, and many others were adversly affected because of those events. Many of the pregnant women whose husbands died that day are now having to explain what happened to the young children. It was very sad, and it helps some people to mourn on the anniversary. However, this is a free country and if you don't want to mourn for those who were lost on that day, then don't do it.

Well
With All My Respect to American Citizen
There's some,,,They Idiot
Because they will repeat what The Media Saying
and be Proud of that, without Understanding what it really mean....

And About 9-11 As Most of us Know
That was a Reason for Some Damaged in the world
it was Bin laden now he is Free,,,But Sadam which Million of American Never heared his name before the war he is in Jail

so Therefor,,,,,The remembrance of some like That is OK
But Don't Take it as Reason for something else

Because In My Own opinion
They Have to Keep doing it This way
so people Brain won't go in peace and people will always feel they are safe when the war is on

My cousin died in one of the towers; she was working in a financial company near the top floor. She was an extremely bright and wonderful person; our family will never really get over over the pain of losing her way before her time.

I agree that there are tragedies all over the world every day, but this tragedy happened in America, to us, so it is up to us (Americans) to remember the day and honor the victims. This does not imply that we should not work to reduce death and suffering in other locations throughout the world.

WHAT IS YOUR POINT ANYWAY?I really want to believe that I fully understood whatever the heck you were trying to communicate.

As far as 9/11 is concerned,it should be a day in history that will never be forgotten and which it will be remembered for years to come, instead or mourning and grieving about the world's tragedies and famine,I would love to see if you really try to do something about it for real....

Your statement is pretty right on. If all of us as individuals cared as much about every other human as we do about ourselves the world would be a much better place. Unfortunately this world system will have to be wiped out before we can get to that place of perfect harmony. September 11th was a warning of worse things to come in the near future that will make the events of that day seem like a pool party.

Our country was brutally attacked on September 11, 2001. The people who died were innocent victims - even children. They were massacred simply because others disagreed with our way of life. They deserve to be honored and mourned. You or I could have died in the attacks that day, but we did not. We survived. We were not harmed physically by the attacks of terrorists, but we may be attacked in the past. Remembering the events of 9/11 will help us remember that day and continue to prevent other attacks. We learn from the past.
