Are you offended by the mafia sterotype portrayed on movies and TV?
Do you think this is doing somthing that hinders the comman Italian American in daily life?

Doesn't offend me. We shouldn't take ourselves so seriously. Sterotypes are out there for fun. Or at least most people think they are fun. Others take them too seriously and to the extreme. We need to lighten up and laugh a little.

the maffia stereotype is rooted in american history. I am not offended by it.
after all it is mostly television that keeps it alive.
yes there are mafia types still around today, but the vast majority of Italians are living the straight and narrow life.

I'm not Italian American, but I definitely don't have that perception. I think that the mafia stereotype is nothing but a hollywood dramatization.

No, I'm not offended. In fact I think it's a kind of cool (not the violence) part of our history. I'm proud to be Italian regardless of what anyone has done in the past.

No, I don't think it does. Not everyone is in the maffia. And, if you think about it, it's almost like how some people assume that southerners are rascist against african americans. It's not true, and we know that.
