Why is our country giving money to nations on the African continent? Should we force those people to change and be more civilized in what they are doing? Why waste our money that should be helping Americans out? I say colonize the countries we are helping, establish a governor like ruler over them, prosecute the terrorist governments and groups.

America has been corrupting african nations for hundreds of years, stealing their natural resourses & setting up "puppet" govts., letting that govt. kill their countrymen & doing nothing about it because they (american govt) have what they came for.

20/20 did a special on this awhile back...pretty sure you can still find the transcript from John Stossel...but anyway he explained many organizations concerned with outreaching to third world locales in Africa deal with cleptocratic rule, which focuses power in the hands of corrupt officials in an everchaniging government. Most countries within Africa suffer revolving rule by corrupt leaders...that use terror and unethical practices to achieve a frim grip on the society. The problem is most of these countries governments are corrupt and so are the institutions the governments create...whatever lawing force they may have is there to ensure the individuals of the society don't overthrow this backwards unity of corruption...everyone gets their backs scratched in such a situation. Also citizens even if they have permits to hold business have their businesses torn down on many occassions and whatever U.N. help they recieve is quickly taken or hidden from the people. I heard one account that after the U.N. dropped some relief packages, corrupt government officials stormed the village and confiscated everything...sad state of affairs.

In an effort to try to help people in need, unfortunately good money has to pass through corrupt governments.

The alternative is to let Africa implode and wallow in misery, disease and war.

The problem is that choices are not that simple. if we ignore Africa, some malignant and evil types will get out and bring their conflicts and jihads and diseases to the rest of the world.

So morality aside, it is simply enlightened self interest to try to help Africa help itself.

It will take at least two whole generations of dedicated effort by the entire western world to make this happen. (Yes, regime changes)

That's forty years.

Unfortunately, we have not yet started a "dedicated" effort yet.

You could give them all the money in the world and they would still never put it too good use and better themself....they would waste it on crap and still keep banging away like jungle bunnies.....!
