Our pool turned green and my daughter's birthday party is tomorrow. Suppose to be a swimming party. My husband shocked it and put more chlorine and stuff for the last 4 days. It is still green!!!! She says she will be embarrassed and so would I. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It is algae, and we can use algaecide, but can they swim right away? That is the question and will the green leave right away?

Yes, Plan B is to go to the rec center. But we bought the pool hoping we wouldn't have to! It is like a 500 gallon pool. I think.

'Fraid you're up the creek on this one: if hubby did the shock thing correctly, and it didn't clear up the water, you're gonna have to drain the pool and clean it and disassemble the filter and clean that too, and then refil the pool with clean water. Unless it's a real small one, y'ain't gonna be able to do that in less than a day. Sorry - hope you have a "plan B" for the little girl's birthday party.

(I'm guessing it's an outside pool)

Clean the bottom and turn on the pumps

Cleaning the water and removing objects is VERY helpful because the green is possibly the chloroplasts of a dead leaf
