Why not just eliminate Federal income tax on minimum wage earners instead of raising it. Another solution might be for the minimum wager earner not to have any Fed. tax withheld from his pay until he has reached say $10,000 or $15,000 in a years time .

There is never a good solution for minimum wage. As a restuarant manager I cannot afford to start people on anything but minimum wage because it is part of my financial plan to keep labor percentage low. Many associates have trouble making ends meet and I try to help by bi-yearly raises. Quite honestly it's a rat race. If they raise minimum wage other prices will rise and it will be just like it is now. Companies survive on cheap labor. Solutions are few and it usually people have to have 2 jobs to make enough money.

well your right about raising minimum wage and it hurting the small busnessman but think about it in a country that has beeen pro big business for past 6 years and all new laws directly reflect that bias so how to even it out well in 2000 we had a surplus in our treasury so it would of been easier to lower the tax and cost of living however seeing that we have a deficit we will be looking forward to lower intrest rates and higher taxes see if the taxes dont get ya the banks and creditors will

As long as we allow illegal aliens to work for 3 dollars a hour, it does not matter what the min wage is.

But for most small business, they will either have to raise the price, like the dollar menu at McDonalds would become the 1.25 menu, The Coke at the local store that is now 1.20 would become about 1.50.

It would take a year or two but shortly any raise would be eaten up with higher costs.

Plus in some cases business would just have to cut help, for example we barely afford our part time help, If I had to pay them more, I would just have to cut his hours.

People can not live off minimum wage only teens living with there parents. I really think if you cant pay the wage maybe you should do all the work your self. For a while anyway. We need higher wages and thats all there is to it.
