differnt cultures had differnt ways of marking time. (Example. Native americans used the phases of the moon.) Acient druids in what is now the united kingdom built Stone Monuments based on movement of the sun and stars to mark the passing of a year and each equinox and solstice. As for the first "clock" I imagine they mesured time by the sun. When the sun was directly over head it was the middle of the daylight hours. Thus Noon. That may have been the point they set the clock. Than went on to break down hours and days etc. Time was differnt for everyone because the sun was directly over head at differnt times of Day all over the world. It is because of trains that we have synchronized time zones in the united staes and the world. Previous to that everytown had there own clocks set to whenever the sun was overhead. They had to synchronize for train scheduales.
