She probably wants you to pay attention, or thinks that you aren't. It's her job to provide you with an education.

I'm probably one of those overly-sensitive teachers, but I get weird about some stuff like that. I would want you to ask me if you could check my calendar and then I wouldn't mind, but I would want to know why you were up by my desk or behind it. It's silly but I've found that even good kids can derail my class by doing something innocent by checking a calendar and then picking up something off my desk to read (even if it's not sensitive material), or sitting in my chair or something like that. While those aren't real offenses, they tend to lead to other boundaries being crossed.

Sounds like she thought you were snooping.
You should probably stay away from her desk, or ask her "can I check a date on your calendar, please?"
But really, she should put her private stuff away since kids are always hanging by.
People have the same problem in offices, it hard not to look at stuff when you're at someone's desk with them.

Probably just wondering why you were looking at it. It's still kind of weird though. Cooper (my old guidance counselor, I graduated) didn't care if you looked at his calendar. Or wrote on it, drew on it, mangled an edge part..... but then again he was the counselor instead of the teacher. Maybe she thought you were inconspicuously looking for something else on her desk.

As a teacher, I don't mind if my students look at my calendar if they need some information. However, if they are looking at that rather than what they are supposed to be doing, I tend to ask what they're doing as well.

Hmm maybe she was afraid you were looking at the grade book lying on her desk or something of that nature. Teachers can be weird like that.

You ask a lot of questions about your teacher on here. It seems to me that maybe you just come across as nosy to her and that maybe you overstep your bounds too much- you are, after all, still a student in the school.

Guess I will answer your question with a question:
How would you feel if the teacher looked at something of yours that you felt was private.?

I don't think she does care. She was just wondering what you were doing...what were you supposed to be doing at the time...wandering around?
