If you are not taking a BC pill then I would think about doing so. BC can help regulate your monthly cycle. If you are on a pill already then I would think about getting on another one.

First of all, your mom doesn't need to see you naked and in school, if you shower after gym class, I'm guessing you will be seen naked by other girls....on the flip side, you need to see a doctor. Your weight could have something to do with your periods also. A doctor can give you professional answers as can your school nurse if you have one. Please don't put this off much longer because if there is a serious problem, the longer you wait to get it checked out, the worse it will get in the long-run. I believe the 9-day thing is normal, because it fluctuates but i don't think the heavy bleeding is normal for a 12 year old but I know of girls who had excruciating pain during their periods but only a Dr can advise you what steps to take for your particular symptoms.

Believe it or not, that could be normal I use to have my period at least 11 days in certain months, really heavy. And I use to get really sick alot and had bad menstrual cramps. My mother would take me to the doctor and he tried to explain to my mother that I should take Birth Controls to control the blood flow and hopefully it won't be as heavy and it won't last as long. But of course, she said NO!! And he told me not to worry about it cause when I get older and if I ever decided to have a child, hopefully it won't be a problem and I never understood that until I had my 1st child and now, I have my period for about 3-5 day and it's very light and no cramps. Just know that it's not going to happen to everyone, I guess I was just lucky. So, please don't try this until you get older.LOL Just tell your mom that you want to see the doctor and maybe she can prescribe you something else for the heavy bleeding.

BElieve it or not, with this stuff, you should get help. You know, doctors are made for this kind of things. You're still jsut a teen so you probably wont understand these things as much as the adults do. Well, at least tell your mom about it. But I'm sure it's all right. The first few days are always like that for me too. I have to change my pad like six times a day on some day. It's THAT much bleeding. You're probably uncomfortable with it now but you'll get used to eat. Just remember to keep yourself clean all the time. Well good luck!

My periods are anywhere from 9-11 days and sometimes 5 of those days are very heavy. I was on the pill as a teen (I'm 24 now) and it did help.
The pain could be ovulation pain, or you could have a problem such as endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome. I will get a pain you described, when a cyst on my ovary bursts.
I know you do not want to go to the doctor, but they know the first time is nerve racking and will go slow and explain everything to you. I really hope you go and talk to your doctor.
best of luck!

9 days is a long time. Normally, periods should last between 5 to 7 days. You should see a doctor.

NINE DAYS!? I know it's different for every female, but I only bleed four to five.. and the max I know of is seven days. (unless body chemistry is changed by age or contraceptive) Are you on the Depo shot or other type of contraceptive? Sweetheart - whether you are or you're not, you really need to get this checked ASAP! I can't stress that enough.. I don't know what your age is or if you're sexually active.. but that's kinda irrelevant. You're having pain and bleeding heavily.. get this checked! It might be normal for you, but I've never heard of it.. better to be safe than sorry. I hope everything is okay.. God bless

I would talk to your doctor about it. It's not abnormal for your period to last that long but if you have heavy bleeding and pain then you should probably get it checked out. Plus that is what doctors are for. There could be a real problem. Better safe than sorry.

I first started my period when i was 9. I used to get horrible cramps too.You should buy midol and get a heating pad at walmart. When i was 11 i went to the doctor because my periods used to last forever too but their was nothing wrong. Just wait till you get older and your cycle is going to change.

Yeah, periods vary from girl to girl. Sorry you have to suffer from the pain, but it's life..which in a girl's point of view, it's like hell with these periods. Just take some midol or tylenol or something to help ease the pain.

I had that same problem and i went to my doctor and she put me on birth control to straighten out the number of days and calm down the cramps. I would go to obgyn fast if i was you just to make sure that's normal for you.
