I've been there, done that; thought I could never do it and it's now been 10 1/2 years since I quit. I believe you can do it too First and foremost is YOU have to want to quit for YOURSELF. I will give you suggestions and I hope maybe some of them will help you. Rid yourself of bad habits that go along with smoking, for instance: If you light up in the morning when you get up try to break that habit, if you light up when talking on the phone, break that phone/ cigg relationship. These things helped me in preparing for that final farewell to ciggarettes. You really need to figure out what things will work best for you. In your past efforts I don't really think your heart was there.but that does not make you a failure. Your mind and heart need to be in sync this time. put some thought behind it. Believe me I didn't quit cold turkey, I got my heart and my mind in sync with each other first : so yes there was alot of thinking going on in my head before I finally felt I had what it takes to say that's it I QUIIT !!! You can do it,I know you can ! Good Luck to you.

It's a good sign that you intend to quit smoking completely,
but you want to know how to overcome it.
Firstly, you know that smoking is bad for health and it can
cause lung cancer which is incurable. That itself is a good
reason to stop.
Secondly, you must think positive about the hundreds of thousands of people will die smoking each year and with that strongly in mind, try to control the urge of nicotine which is in
your body system, considering the withdrawal symptom. Once you past at least 2 weeks without smoking, I think you're on
your way to achieving it. In the meantime, try avoiding alcoholic
drinks, like beer, whiskey, brandy, gin etc. because alcohol
has great influence on inducing nicotine to make you smoke
again. After a month or two, you'll feel great again and your
breathing and stamina will vastly improved.
Believe it, I've gone through this stage and now I'm a confirmed
non-smoker!

Visit American Lung Association website. They have modules to work, a chat board, and lots of support. I have tried many things but this is the only thing that has worked for me. I am smoke free 45 days today. YEPPIE
Also visit whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com
If you are truly ready to quit the American Lung Association is the place to go.
It's worth it! You are worth it! Give it a try.

Resole to do it. Use patch and gum together. Add zyban to the mix if you start getting depressed. If your relatives all start getting lung cancer, it is a little easier to give up.

use the patch and gum and a fake ciggie to hold and get hypnotized, then listen to subliminal music with hidden messages against wanting to smoke. you need to fire with all the guns.

Take yourself seriously, honor your decision to quit, recognize that it is hard to quit, and don't give up on yourself.
