So your Mom's name is "Tweety"?

Is your Dad's name "Byrd"?

Lawsuits over what? If he thinks its that much of a problem just ask your boss how much trouble it would be to change your name on your paycheck. I don't think it should affect anything taxwise because they go by SS # I believe, not name.

You don't have to change your name. As long as you are not trying to impersonate someone you should never have any legal problems if you go by your middle name. Many people do it and you can too.

I don't know for sure but for what is first name and middle name - for use. Use just for legal documents first name but for friends use middle name. My husband have Charles and Richard but every call him Chuck.

my husband has the same issue. He goes by his middle name. There is nothing wrong with it legally...nothing at all. To change your name is very, very expensive. Also, it is nice to have your mom's name. It makes no difference that you go by your middle name and sign stuff with it, as long as you are consistant.

No way... you're Dad is exaggerating the problem. Just use your legal name in legal situations, like a job application, W-2, whatever.

It depends on where you live. Here in Ontario, Cananda I think the cost is about $130 for each name change. Most likely you would have to complete and application about yourself and have proof of citizenship.
