You are a wonderful friend to take concern. You are also right that your friend and her family need help.

I suggest that you start by going with your friend to a school counselor, and both of you participate in a conversation that ensures the counselor knows the extent of the problem. That counselor should and must find help for your friend. For you, it may help to start at that level.

If that does not work, it helps to have a fall-back. Do you know any teacher or parent that you can trust? The best way to help your friend is to tell some adult that you admire and believe will help you, and ask that person to suggest some solutions.

It is people like you who make the world a better place. We all need one another and friends at your age are so important. You are being the best kind of friend.

Sounds to me Another Statistic! Sorry for your friend but Life Sucks!! I too can relate, and the only thing I can tell ya is Just be there for her as a friend! As for seeking help Counseling is good or a Youth program YMCA Local Church's have Kool Programs AWANA. But if your claiming Abuse be careful with that one cuz authority's do separate kin when under investigations and foster home are no home!! Her Mom is doing it all it sounds and being drunk is away to escape it all. Tell your friend to Be the strong one ,Overlook all these unfortunate happenings and Try to Understand her mothers ways. Sometime we do what we know, and all that she can do is to NOT repeat History. Do Better!!
Put your/her feet in her mothers shoes and walk in them. Is your friend making life easy for her mom are they helping her and trying to be a family?

Good Luck!! PS how old are you all?

Sweetie, if you think this situation is serious enough you need to have an adult call DSS (or whatever it's called in your state) and have the parents investigated.
If they truly love their children and see that the state is going to get involved then they will try to be better parents.
You are just a kid & you can not take this on yourself. Just be there for your friend.

Honestly its none of your business, and your not one to judge, yet I know its your friend and I couldn't imagine that happening to my best friend, if I was in your shoes I would tell your parents or find some pshchayatry thing on the net, or if it gets really bad call child abuse services.

It depends how old she is. If shes under 18 you ca call child protective services. If shes over 18, she ust has to face te fact that most of us do not get the perfect parents.

You sound like you are young I would suggest talking to a school counsler. But try talking to her first as a friend but, if you think she has a eating disorder talk to a school counsler or the school nurse. Also check to see if there are any teen help lines in your town to see if you can call them.

The best thing you can do for your friend is to call the cops and tell them what you just told us. Then let the cops take it from there, your friend may not be as thrilled about it as you were, but feel great knowing you did the right thing. Trust me, she'll thank you for it.

Why don't you all just go out and do something fun that all 3 of you will enjoy and just maybe the mother will stop neglecting her child and learn how to have fun with each other again.

Sounds like you need to get ahold of your county/city social service department. They have department for helping abandon/abused kids. Call a hospital, police department or city hall for a contact number.

well you seem like one of the only people she has.
just be there for her and be a good friend.

help her through this, and make sure she doens't hurt herself or get that eating disorder.

she could talk to someone. maybe a counselor or something. she needs help. call the police or something.
