Stair climbing is considered as the most strenous exercise.
We lift the total body weight, against the gravity.
All body muscles are used during stair climbing since hand and shoulder muscles also work to balances the body, along with the leg muscles.
Since all muscles are used during stair climbing, more oxigen is used( than provided by normal breathing) and hence we breath faster . Oxigen debt starts occuring and we pant.
By the way wood cutting is secong strenous work.
Mountain climbing is as strenous as stair climbing, but reduction of oxigen at higher elevation, adds to panting. We have to rest to make up for oxigen.

This is true but not every one does that.
Climbing stairs is a form of exercise, as a matter of fact there is an equipment call StairMaster.
You are using Major muscles to do this work. They need more blood to get nourished, heart pumps more blood, lug has to work harder to replenish oxygen to blood supply, hence faster breathing and even panting in some case.

when climbing stairs, our body is working against gravity.any muscle working against gravity has to do more work than movement in anyother directions.the oxygen present in the muscles gets exhausted soon.to maintain the oxygen supply ,the heart reacts by sending more blood loaded with oxygen from the lungs(through your arteries).hence the heart rate goes up. in order to take in more oxygen from the atmosphere the breathing also becomes faster.hope this helps.cheers.

Our muscles are consuming oxygen at a greater rate than when in a sedintary state. Our heart rate compensates by pumping blood faster to remove the CO2 from our blood stream, while delivering more oxygen at the same time. Our breathing increases as appropriate for our individual level of cardiovascular conditioning to deliver more O2 to the bloodstream. Hope this answers accurately and clearly for you.

As you comprehend, shihtzus have very flat noses, making it greater good for them to breath. So while she or he's worked up or taking part in...or maybe merely mendacity around she or he would be in a position to try this. Like some pugs you spot, they(no longer all yet some) could have sergery on their noses cuz their nostrels are so small and noses so squished in. i does no longer be to frightened in any respect the way by this. I had a shihtzu years in the past, and he became the comparable way, his total existence. If the undertaking gets worse, take her or him to the vet...she or he ought to have a touch of ashma. yet contained in the mean time, merely relish ur domestic dog. she or he would be in a position to quiet down while he's to exauseted to seize his breath

Also, aside from that (1st 2 answers), it's harder to climb up the stairs rather than go down because of the pull of gravity. (you are going against it).

because as you climb, your blood gets warmer, causing it to move faster to your brain, to give it oxygen, and since your oxygen is getting wasted so quickly, you pant to get even more oxygen, and so on.

As you burn calories, your body uses oxygen.
Your body knows it needs more oxygen & causes you to breathe faster to get that extra oxygen.
