I didn't really have a sweet sixteen birthday, so I'm not sure. I've gotten her a pair of earrings that I think she'll like, but I'd like to get her something extra-special, something that maybe she wouldn't expect. I'm in college, so I don't have just tons of cash--maybe something $50 or under? If any of you girls have had your sweet sixteens, what did you like getting most? (Besides your driver's license :) Thanks!

Get her a jewelry music box..(to put the earrings in...)... with her name and the date.. You can get it at...a store called..THINGS REMEMBERED...it should be less than $50. and it's a special gift that she will Cherish forever. You can even have them write..." I LOVE YOU SISTER"..or any nick name you have for her....Find one in your area...or go on-line and you might be able to order from there. They have a lot of different ideas and gifts...an album...would be nice too.. Anything personalized should be SPECIAL..and UNIQUE..... They have cute gifts for sweet sixteens and special occasions. Good Luck!

Nothing would be more fun than going to the spa with your big sister!!!! I had it and it was the best thing ever happend to me!! Except it was with my girls. I dont have a sister so...yeah. Anyway, it's her time to enjoy WITH YOU. You did mention you were at college right? So have this precious time and do something special for both of you. Shopping spree, spa, sleep over, a medicure or pedicure, anything! Communication is the key. I hope this would help and happy birthday to youir sister!! Good luck!

My older sister was 25 and we looked similar so she took me out to a nice restaurant and bought me a real strawberry daquari. Nobody asked for ID but I was to use hers just in case. Just the memory of getting away with it, i remember well. If you two live close to each other or in the same home, have a sister's night out, give her the jewelry and get some photos done together somewhere or something unique where you live.

I was going to say jewelry but it seems like you have that under control. Maybe take a really good picture of the two of you and then put it in a nice frame...that way she can always have a good memory while you're away at college.

I would take her out for a sisters night out, go somewhere really nice and u can give her the earrings then. Younger sisters always like hanging out with there older sibling. ;)

How about a really nice purse or pair of shoes? On a budget I understand that you can't really go big designer, but you can get something really nice.

If i was you I would write her a letter explaining how much she means to you. Then you could explain to her that you wanna take her out....or another neat idea would be to get your name and your sisters names wrote on a piece of rice and have it placed in necklace and each of you can wear each others. something different that would be personal.
