French Emperor Napoleon who conquered most of Europe at the beginning of the 19th century, admiring the arches of the Romans, comissioned Chalgrin to build this big arc of triumph in 1806. This arc de triomphe stands at the top of the Champs Elysees. The Arc of Triomphe keeps the memory of all the dead killed in the two wars, World War I and World War 2(1914/1918)It also has the grave of the unknown soldier and a permanent burning flame of remembrance .
