It was when I was a freshman in high school. I lived at an all girls school, and my roommate had a Prince album. Before then I just listened to what ever was poplular, Top 40 I think they called it. After hearing the Purple Rain album, it turned me on to acually hearings the words not just listening to the music.

This one shows my age ... Elvis Presley.
I remember it clearly ... listening to a 45 (if you don't know what that is, it was a kind of record that generally played one song on each side, and you had to flip it to hear the "B" side) ... of Crying in the Chapel, and thinking that his voice was almost from another world.

You expect me to remember ?!?!?! No idea... lol. But I remember when me & my sis used to listen to da radio & we'd hear loooooooooots of Backstreet Boys lol. After hearing so many of their songs & liking them we were like, "They're not bad..." Then we started to become fans & love them & we went to their concert on Aug 20th/98 :D Aaron Carter opened up for them & he was only 10 !!!
