OMG I totally know what you mean! Where is bugs bunny?! We have a two year old and every saturday morning I find myself shaking my head at the televsion, flicking endlessly for a cartoon that isnt badly drawn, boring or full of wierd "what-the-heck?!" kind of things. I miss the good old cartoons. I also totally agree with ctangio. I find the language and subject matter to be a little disturbing at times. I miss the old saturday morning line up. Though we are big spongebob fans. Who lives in a pineapple under the sea!

Cartoons have been on the decline since the late 70's, early 80's, with the loss of good cartoons by HannaBarbera. The loss of Mel Blanc also had a large impact on the industry.

I certainly have. It seemed to have started around the early to mid nineties due to the growth of cable television networks taking over in that department with the addition of fox, upn and wb and even those networks dont show cartoons as good as they used to. They still do show cartoons, just not as much as they used to on the major networks i grew up watching like abc, cbs and nbc. And when they do they are crappy. I think it is just cable tv taking over. Man i miss the days where i would wake up on saturday mornings at 6 and watch cartoons till twelve on the MAJOR networks. Also where i lived they used to show cartoons on weekday afternoons on the local independant channels back in the day. Wow how i miss those days! I feel sorry for the children of this generation unless they bring that tradition back.

Yes! I am always saying "what is this crap?" about cartoons these days - what happened to Captain Planet, Power Rangers, and Voltron?
And the same with Sunday comics - I look at Dilbert these days and cringe.
I think of better jokes than this - and I'm just a ignorant ivy league college student.
It seems Scott Adams may have lost his touch - or perhaps he simply has given into a commercial and increasingly conservative world.
When I go to his website, there are banner ads for Christian organizations and commercial companies all over it.
I think the lack of good cartoons is directly correlated to the increased capitalist entrepreneurism in our world. Society has simply given in to the tug of commercialism - and subsequently forsaken its values of good cartoons and pleasureful paper reading - not pessimistic news sensationalism and product placement.
So give us our good comics, damnit!

Totally, I can't even stand to watch them anymore. I don't see what the kids see in them. Ugggh, it's frustrating cause I don't have cable so I get the really crappy ones. I say bring back the old Bugs Bunny and Transformers. Those were good cartoons. The ones now seem like they teach kids to be disrespectful to adults and not to have a very good opinion of them either.

Yes I guess I'm a bit old fashioned but what happened to the Looney Tunes. You know Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Roadrunner. I sometimes think that the cartoons of today are hurting the kids.

I dont have little ones yet I do agree. Hell, I nevertheless watch cartoons. they surely ingredient on Saturday mornings is The Batman and The Legion. sturdy information in spite of the reality that, they're relaunching the Spiderman series next 365 days on UPN. I shop in ideas the smurfs, thundercats, spidermand and his stunning friends, he-guy, gi-joe, scooby doo(which has been remodeled on UPN), Tom and Jerry, etc

Yes I have. One real good one came out recently & I havent seen it in awhile. It was called Coconut Fred & it was pretty good. The 80's & 90's had the best saturday morning cartoons to me. Remember the one called Hey Vern Its Ernest with Jim Varney? That was my fave. And what about ALF tales? Also another fave.

Why are so many people talking about cartoons? I would imagine that if one is old enough to post on this website, they would have grown out of saturday morning cartoons a while ago.

I have! I'm not too keen on the cartoons of today, just a few of them. I like the new Ninja Turtles serial, and there's this Canadian show, "Class of the Titans." Another cool new show is "Loonatics Unleashed." Other than that, the cartoons of today are FRIKKING GAY!!!
