Charles Mackay, in _Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds_, gives an entire chapter to the European witch mania. You should be able to find reprints of this book very easily in the history, psychology, or sociology sections of any good library. You will also want to check Rossell Hope Robbins, _Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology_ (also at most libraries; try religions section). Comprehensive reference book, with historical discussions of witchcraft and reactions in various European nations. Very good, especially for its bibliography and discussions of various famed cases. For additional material, suggest you see about social history books (be on the lookout for titles such as "Life in _____ During the X Century" or "Everyday Life in ____"). A quick scan of the chapter contents and index should give you an idea of how much space the author gave (if any) to witchcraft. Good luck!
