Roger Maris :( I was excited when McGwire broke it but the constant barrage of hitters passing Maris's record took all the shine off that then the steroids use by McGwire, Sosa and Bonds means that thier records are trash. Not worthy of being a record.

While I do not like Barry Bonds, he holds the major league record for most homeruns in a season. He played within the rules, if not within the spirit of good competition.
This is not different than when they changed the composition of the baseball, ending the Dead Ball era in 1920. The record is the record.
Now let's all hope Ryan Howard has a tremendous last three weeks and breaks it once and for all. (well, let me hope anyways).

babe ruth 60 in 154 games untouched without roids. cant explain the hat size barry, sosa and mcwire were helped by substances that were not illegal at the time but is now recognized as ones that should of been. note... till the age of 35 barry bonds never hit a ball over 450 feet... since then hes hit 31 over 450 feet.. at an age when sluggers stats go flat after 35 bonds stats skyrocked with unreal numbers. he went from a great player to the greatest of all time after 36 years old unheard of. at the age of 39 the average hr year for the first three hr hitters of all time was 9. bonds hit 73 at that age.... wow....

Right now, Bonds holds the record. I would love MLB to change this, but we all know they won't. Roger Maris is the home run leader, in my opinion, but it looks like Howard will be passing him soon!

Barry Bonds.
And it's not just my opinion...opinions have nothing to do with it.
It is a fact. Bonds holds the single season HR record with 73.
As Casey would have said, 'you can look it up'.
Records aren't based on whether you (or I) like them or not.

Bonds, but i really dont pay much attention to that anymore, i usually pay attention to world series rings, and believe he has none.
Team records are always better than individual.
I consider hank aaron the best homerun hitter

this one's easy. barry bonds has not been convicted of any wrongdoing/partaking in any banned substance.
clearly the statute of limitations has run out for any drug tests regarding his big year.
the record books have no choice but to recognize him as having this record.
hope this helps!
