Sounds like you need an update from 1.1 to 2.0. I don't think you can get that done for free. It's a hardware upgrade, not a software upgrade. Something in your computer needs to be physically replaced.

I never heard of updating a USB port. Older computers may have the slower USB 1 instead of the faster USB 2. If that is the problem there is no upgrade. But you can buy a USB 2 card for about $30 and plug it into the computer's backplane. It will have USB connectors on it that offer USB 2.

You can't update a hardware device for free because you need to buy the proper new equipment and install it. Installing it could be free, but most of the times buying things costs money.

If you mean update it to 2.0, it's not possible. You have to purchase the hardware.
