do you get other americans telling them if they dont like it leave the country, surely in a democracy it is your duty to question your goverment and by telling them to leave the country they are advocating fascism.

Actually if they were advocating fascism , you'd have no avenue to dissent (such as your internet connection) and they'd just kill you, but..hey..whatever.

I am troubled by this also. I only want everyone aware that there are many similarities between the current administration and Nazi Germany. I do not want this history to repeat itself. It is our duty as citizens to question government, at the local, state, and federal levels, or there is the possibility of that happening again. Soon.
What most people don't understand is that complacency only weakens the democracy which we stand so firmly for. What they also cannot seem to grasp, is that just because a person speaks out does not mean that they are against the country, but are striking out against extremes of government. I love my country, and I want it back.

Question everything. Question authority. Once again we have learned there was no link between Osama and Iraq yet no one in the press will come out and say this administration filled the airwaves with lies. Cheney, Rummy and Condi led the hounds of hell with the same BS day in and day out. Sunday Cheney will be on "Meet The Press" and he will repeat the same lies using his "That's classified information" every time he gets caught in a lie and lap dog Russell will play along sitting at the feet of his master. Another interview and another chapter of "Wag The Dog." Speak up America before it's too late. Be proud to be an American. Vote for change in November.

You are assuming that democracy is real. It is not. We Americans live in a Theocracy, and are told what to think and believe. We have a two party system of government that does'nt represent the majority. The two parties are controlled by an even smaller special interest kabal that does'nt care what Americans want- their only interests are money and the power that comes along with it.

Also the very fact that America is still a Democracy tells us that we can say what we want to whoever we want so when they call me a tree Huggin Hippy Liberal and tell me to get out of the country if I do not like the way it is run I just move on and shrug since it is there RIGHT to Feel that way.

"America" doesn't have a true form of democracy anyway. The only true democracy exists in Switzerland, where important issues are voted on by all in a direct democracy.

The US has a system where if you're rich &/or a movie star, you can get enough support to become the president. Once that happens, you need to agree with all the personal beliefs of that person.

People say like it or leave, because that's in reality all the choice you have....

i don't mind the dissent(i have done some) but along with the dissent must come some rational thought.
don't just curse the government, come up with some logical alternatives.
don't take the side of those who would harm us all.
vote! it may not be the best system but i prefer it to all others.
the pendulum continues to swing.we can only hope that over time it remains somewhere near the middle.

This is true but I would suspect that you are in more danger questioning and telling your theory here than you would be in any other subject here. i would never true express one way or another. To me that would be foolish and who know what can happen! the Goverment is not to be played with and I wont give them no room to bother me - believe that not in this day and time!

people in power (in a democracy) bear the responsibility of answering the questions of the people they are leading instead of automatically claiming they are evil and attempting to discredit them.

the people being led by the people elected into power bear the responsibilty of at least considering opinions that vary from their own and instead of fighting amongst themselves, being reasonable and objectively look at the issues at hand. individual americans have different philosophies and ways of seeing the world, and that's good, isn't it?

it makes them a group of people, both different and similar, who want the same things: to be proud of their country and to preserve the rights america is founded on. hard lines of i am right and you are wrong build inpenetrable blind walls and divide.

In a lot of ways, the Neocon mentality of this decade mirror that of the controling elements in 1930s Germany.

Most of the American -unlike European- are simple minded, do not read newspapers, only watch TV series and football, do not know the difference between Iraq and Iran, don't know the capital of England....very few educated people are running the show.
