It's 'licking'.
Saliva contains compounds to fight infection, and the act of licking a wound is about the best medical care an animal can expect in the wild. (Not to imply it's that great.)
If someone is 'licking their wounds' I also get an overtone of pathos, caring for themselves as best they can after a terrible attack.

It is licking your wounds not liking your wounds. Refers to what animals do when they are injured. They take their losses and lick their wounds to feel better if they got into a fight. They are cleaning and healing themselves.
