There are different reasons why people lie. They may lie to protect themselves or someone else. Perhaps, they try to cover up some wrong-doing with a lie. Or, some people lie just to get something they want. Others lie about themselves so they can feel better about themselves.

People lie for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes the truth hurts so people lie in an effort to be kind. They lie because they are insecure. They lie to make themselves feel better or to appear better or more important than they are. They lie to avoid the unhappiness that might be caused by the truth.
Lying is also part of self-preservation. Most of us lie sometimes, especially to protect ourselves from embarrassment or to avoid something unpleasant or to stay out of trouble. It is sometimes easier to lie than to face the consequences of the truth.
A few people are pathological liars, but that is the exception, not the rule.

To cover up the truth and I believe that some people have an illness that every words comes out of their mouth is a lie and you know that person is lying. Some people lie so much that they have convince themself that they are telling the truth and you actually believe them to until you learn the truth.

Because they think they can get away with it I hate people who lie that is the biggest thing that ticks me off is liars people lie cause they think they can get away with it and that a person is too dumb to know the truth which is wrong because when someone lies the truth always come out then it makes that person look like a complete ***

Their are some people that tell it like it is, Then their are those people that go away from the truth and lie. They lie to make their self slook good. That's why they lie.

I lie cuz i'm scared of results that are gonna ruin my life
ex.If I tell my friend she acts conceited alot then she might get mad a never talk to me again and then i'll never meet a person like her!
So I really don't want to take that chance!

People lie for various reasons, but mostly I think because they are unwilling to accept certain truths about their own character.
