Don't overdo the technology.

Don't rely on your visual aids to do the presentation for you; they should complement, not echo, your talk .

Don't have too many slides/overheads.

Do try to make your visual aids interesting.

Don't switch between different types of visual aids, unless you can do this very slickly.

Do ensure that the writing on your visual aids is large enough to be read from a distance.

Don't include too much information on one overhead/slide.

Don't overuse computer effects or make them too flashy/multicoloured/whizzing in and out in all directions!

Do keep the style of your visual aids consistent.

Don't have prominent sponsorship logos on your visual aids.

Don't have handwritten overheads or overheads made from photocopies.
