Is he a good investment, or a waste of time and money for the 49ers?

You just have to wait and see. Some people think he got drafted so high because of the system he played in at college. I think he can be a pretty good investment.

its a toss up. see if the ******** 49ers (my team by the way and i live in san fran as well so i'm a real fan) if they had acted smart and got an impact player INSTEAD say if they had went for a stud wide out like mike williams..THEEEEEEEEN THOSE FOOLS COULD HAVE TAKEN LINEART THE FOLLOWING YEAR. and bam..guess what? they'd have two of colleges best players in the past 5 years. and both loved playing with each other and both were a great fit for each other

buuuuuuuuuut noooooooooooo that damn ****** up york family had to go a draft smith. now i'm okay on smith-i can't say he's a bust when in fact he's only freaking played one season on footballs shitties team (a team with no wide outs woth sending to HELL)...but i'll judge him after this year. bryant and smith are looking to be good with each other..and then there vernon davis and frank gore(mind you if you are playing fantasy ball run out right now and pick up gore or bryant both are gonna be nice sleepers worth having)

smith is a smart player. he looked lost last year but we can't blame him for one reason and one reason only-he had absolutely no one to throw to.

hey even terry bradshaw was terrible his first year. he threw something like 2 td's and 23 picks.

Most quarterbacks are a 3 year project. Give him this year and next year. If he is not good after that then you can decide whether he was worth the pick.

It takes time to tell, but that total deer in the headlights look of his would worry me. He doesn't care, he got the big bucks up front.

You still have to give him some time. He has all the skills he just freaks out when he drops back.
