It's easy, fun and profitable providing you are honest.
Do ensure that you provide a truthful description of the item.
Do make sure that you ask for a landline no. for anyone bidding with a low rating.
Cost your shipping accurately and don't forget the cost of the packaging.
The listing and selling fees are reasonable and much cheaper than advertising in newspapers etc.
Most people prefer to pay by Paypal or similar as it affords them some protection against the minority of fraudulent sellers that trade illegally in this way. Get yourself hooked up with a Merchant account. It's free to set up and the fees for transactions are again quite reasonable.
You can put a reserve price on any article you want to sell or alternatively you can put a start price at the lowest you are willing to accept.
It depends on what you are selling as to whether you list all items individually or go for a dutch auction (selling several of the same item from one listing). You could also put a buy it now price on (this is an optional extra which incurs an extra fee)
Good photos tend to improve your chances of selling.
You don't pay a seller's fee unless your item sells.
There are step by step instructions on how to list your item for sale. Before you do this, check out similar items already listed and crib from them for ideas of categories, price, description etc.
It is important to get good feedback so that your rating shows you as a responsible seller. Make sure that you do not delay in communicating with the winning buyer and shipping the item quickly once cleared payment has been received. Also give feedback for your buyer.
Hope this gives you an idea of what it's all about. Read the site, give it a go and have fun.

I have made an average of $20 an hour just selling part time. Yes, there are fees but it's sure cheaper than having store rents and utilities and salaries and benefits and everything else. The best way to make money is to start up a legitimate business taking tax write offs for equipment, supplies, advertising, etc. I have yet to find a part time job working for someone else that pays as well as working for myself.
