I know this may come out the wrong way, but I work in the law enforcement field and I have to say that some people are sex offenders and good people...you can be a sex offender for many reasons....not just takeing indecent liberties with a child or having sex with a child.....what if you had sex with a girl who told you she was 18, but she was really 14??? You can be made to register as a sex offender for this....bet some of your brothers, fathers, cousins, etc have been guilty of this....never judge a book by it's cover!

I guess Jesus would give the person another chance. But where I live (and I assume most states) the business address of the sex offender is listed on a web site. I don't know if I would like to take the risk of someone else making a "fuss" at my place of business.
Yes it would definitely depend on exactly what the sex offender did.

It would depend upon how he is now. I know several people who did do something once, and turned themselves in. They went through counseling, and are fine. They have families, and are wonderful friends and family members. One bad thing, once they did turn themselves in they became labeled for life. Their names and addresses will always be on the registry online and they have to re-register if they ever move. Other people may not be in the same frame of mind as these people are, and I would not hire them if there was a chance of them hurting someone at the place of employment. One thing to remember too, regardless of what they did, they get the same distinction on the offenders list - and some people will always be willing to cause them trouble. Others don't judge them on their past (some of the worst 'bad boy' juveniles have become police officers or firefighters after realizing what they needed to do in their lives instead of what things they did, and they sometimes carry out their jobs and live their lives better than most people because they did get that second chance. So I would look at the person as he or she is now and then decide on if I would hire them.

It would depend on the position in which you are hiring them for. If it is working with children hell no I would not.. Anything else I would have to say I would as long as they have great work ethic, and they are not around your spouse or other half.

I wouldn't. But I have a real problem with sex offenders. Plus if the other employee's found out it could change the work place dynamic, and create more problems.

Yeah, I guess it would depend on what they did. I'm not an employer, but I'm thinking that for me personally, based on my values, I would probably choose a candidate that wasn't a sex offender over one who was.

Sex offender = pervert...period. I would only hire him if I worked in a prison.
