Today we all got a raise equivalent to about 40 cents per hour! I jumped up outta my chair so hard it flew back and whooped OH BOY NOW I CAN BUY A CAN OF POP EVERY HOUR, then remembering pop cost 50 cents I got my chair, sat back down, and starting muttering, will some please loan me a dime?? I was really embarrassed I forgot pop cost 50 cents. Wouldn't you have been embarrssed too?

To dell_dude above me, some people do call it "pop" it is regional. Some people call it pop, some soda, and some call all soda "coke". I think it is cute to call it pop.
I think it is funny, and I think most people took it as a joke. I would have. It sounds like scarcasim, and eitehr way dont be embarrised. It makes for a good story.

Loan yourself a dime... what were you doing with your other salary? I'm sure your co-workers were instilled with more job security, knowing that rocks ruff and stuff with the afro puffs would likely be the 1st to go if the company needed to make some cuts due to insanity.

It wasn't really appropriate, unless ur coworkers are a cool crowd. But no, don't be embarassed about the "can I borrow a dime?" comment cause THAT made it look like you were joking. Besides, ANY raise is good. Congrats

who calls it pop? pretty much anyone from up north, just like in texas it is called coke... like if you want mellow yellow, you must order a mellow yellow flavored coke... the waitresses actually ask you what flavor coke you want.... lmao
anyways, yes your reactioin is appropriate... a one dollar an hour raise is only equal to 2000 bucks a year...... BEFORE TAXES!!!!

40 cents an hour...
equals $3.20 a day..
equals $16.00 a week...
minus tax and all that...
equals $12.00 a week.
If it was me, I'd buy one Pop,
sit back in my chair with my feet up
and say, somewhat sarcastically...
"well, hot dayum...I'm excited, aren't ya'll?"
Nope...I wouldn't be embarrassed
but, I'm kinda weird that way...lol
