First of all, I am Mexican, we all have a deep admiration and respect for your country. As an individual, I dream of going to your country one day, to the carnaval, visiting the Christ sculpture, the Impanema beach, and enjoying the warmth and hospitality I've heard so much about from people I know who have gone there. As a Latin American I can relate to all the problems that your country may be facing, poverty, crime, corruption, etc. But hopefully one day things will change for us all.I think your country and your people are awesome, though living in Chicago I have only met a couple of your compatriots, none the less, my opinion remains. VIVA BRAZIL!!!!!

I once read a book called And Still the Earth, by Ignacio de Loyala Brandau. From it I learned that Brazilians are a modern people with their roots in the compost of nature.
I went to Rio De Janeiro one time, and I saw that the people made a lot of children which they then neglected.
I listened to Antonio Jobim and later to Milton Naciemento and I heard that at the center of
brazil was an aching soft loneliness. And that it could be transformed to joy by breath and the stroking of a guitar.
I took a day trip up the Amazon. I saw the natural world cringing from the hands of greed.
I saw a movie about a Spanish capitalist who tried to bring an opera house to Peru by travelling up the river. I learned that history consumes humans as a flame does oxygen.
I hope you understand me. I love your country
with a real sadness.
