In my experience, not that accurate at all. I had an U/S a few weeks before I delivered, the baby was estimated to be much too huge for me to deliver safely/comfortably vaginally, and a c-section was scheduled. My son turned out to only be 6 lbs. 8 oz. Perfectly healthy, but small.

I completely trust U/S for heartbeat and abnormalities and such, but will always be wary of size estimates!

Typically less accurate than the second trimester ultrasound. The second trimester u/s is most accurate because the baby is seen the best and there are less parental influence (big parents, big baby). In the 3rd trimester, the baby is so big and squeezed in a tight space that it is difficult to get good measurements sometimes. Also, usually the important thing is if the measurements follow a pattern from prior u/s.

not always that accurate i was told my daughter was about 7 lbs she was almost 9 lbs but that is just my experience

they did an ultrasound on me the day before i had my son and said he was 5lbs 13 oz...and he was......

so it was very accurate in my case....
