I'm in high school, and I know my school's on the list. I had someone invite me, but when I clicked the link in the email it still didn't work. Why won't it let me register?

Well, facebook right now was in a little pickle. There was a petition and complaint against them earlier this month which may be a reason. Although they said it wouldn't be a problem for anyone using facebook.
Try getting a new e-mail invite from the person.

I'm pretty sure it won't let you register unless you use an official email address issued by your high school or college.
