Try blood meal. You can purchase it at most garden centres. Squirrels hate the smell.

There are several things you can do. You can bait it with a cat trap with some food in the cat trap. Once you catch it, you can turn it loose somewhere close to a river where it will get lots and lots of food. Though you might check first to make sure that it doesn't have a nest in your attic. Squirrels don't generally go where they have no food unless they are hiding or nesting. You might also block off your attic with heavier objects such as bricks. Or you might put down something that the squirrel doesn't like (for example; something that might smell like a cat.). A cruel and inhumane way is to poison it.

Get a live trap from a hunting store.. Put peanut butter on the bait tray in the middle. The squirrel won't die so you can let it out free.

Try putting a piece of plywood over the chicken wire.

When I had ;problems with squirrels, I did not use chicken wire as it was too easy for a rodent/squirrel to get thru.. I used another wire MESH (it comes in rolls and you can buy it by the foot) that is much stronger than the ordinary chicken wire

go to your local humane society and ask for a cat trap you will have to check the every few hours as the squirrel will eventually get out of it too but it should do the trick then take the squirrel as far away from your house as possible. I mean take it and put it in the car and go for a very long drive, then release.

You need to do somehting quick as this squirrel is looking for a place to have her babies. Home Depot sells mesh, the kind almost for screens for a window that should do the job keeping out this little buggar.

You can attach a wire from an electric fencer. This is how I keep squirrels out of my pecan trees.
