Have Americans got a superiority complex ?
I travel in the US frequently and I reckon that I know your physce (sorry spelling).
You see, it seems to me that you guys think that you invented everything and that you gave the world everything because of your superior knowledge. You don't seem to think that the rest of the world invented most things.
..and incidently I go to the US because I happen to like you and your country.

I think the word you are looking for is cocky. We are Americans and proud of it, even if it is an accident of birth. I would hope that other people from other nations would have that same feeling towards their homeland.

We also do not get radio and TV from other countries. So the average person does not get an idea of the world consensus. So it is a mixture of blind pride and manipulation by the media.

We don't all think like that, unfortunately it's the type of people you met. Some of us Americans aren't that bad though. At least I don't think so. I don't believe we're superior or anything, heck we've got troubles like everyone else. We're young though and I think we have to realize that, many countries were here before us, such as Rome, England, Iraq, China, Japan and the list could go on and on. All coutries have made a huge contribution to history and invented some great things. We need to recognize that. Sorry, I'm getting a little annoyed with my country at the moment, yes I'm a full blown American who loves her country and supports the troops and everything, but somethings America does bugs me. Hope this gives you what you want, if not I'm sorry. God Bless!

I disagree, That americans think they are superior, bec u shold appreciate that americans trust easily, thats their biggest weakness. And we all learn from our mistakes, and this is not just confined to an american per se or an Indian perse it identifies with humanity at large.
America is more open, atleast it gives other ethnicities a chance to come and see america, tell me which other country is a host to so many cultures and ethnicities. I think after India, america is the only country that has individuals of different color, languages, and does not impose its citizens to speak only English. I have seen Americans attend other culture ceremonies with a smile, even though it might may sound weird or something new. For example Chelsea, Clinton's daughter played holi, a festival in India.

Of course Americans have a superiority complex - especially the people in the state of Ohio who think they're better than the rest of the world.

Best wishes ,Happy travels.

I think you are correct in getting that attitude from some of my fellow Americans. Most of the people I know do not feel that way at all. I am sorry if you got a bad impression of our people. Why don't you travel to Alaska sometime? You will love the people.

In addition to our ability to utilize a spell checker, we are also able to steal from the rest of the world their knowledge, and convince people like you that it was our idea in the first place. That makes us superior.

I hate to say this but due to are lack of knowledge of history and the very basics we cover in our school systems. we do feel superior because we don't know any better. yet there are lots of open minded US citizens that care deeply about the out side world. we are not all bad just misguided.

Um...maybe its because during both World Wars we saved the Europeans and everyone else from the Axis Powers (WWII) and Central Powers (WWI). Last time I checked, these wars were won once the US had entered them. If it was not for the US, we may all be speaking German, Japanese or Italian. We fly the flag of democracy that all other nations seem to follow. I am glad to see that you like our country.
