well you probably know already that Lava is on the Earth's surface and Magma is beneath it. You probably want to learn more of the differences between the two. Magma usually collects in a magma chamber beneath a volcano, and can then be injected into cracks in rocks or issue out of volcanoes in eruptions. The temperature of magma can be as high as 5000 F. When it reaches the surface and comes out of a volcano, magma becomes lava which is about 1300-2200 Farenheit. When it hits a temperature instantly just a few degrees above freezing it will cool instantly. 90 F to us may be considered hot weather, but lava/magma it is an extreem temperature difference as if it were, indeed, freezing point.
