Here's a thought....if a remake was ever done of Gone With the Wind, who do you think would make a good Rhett & Scarlett? My first thoughts were Tom Selleck as Rhett, and Kiersten (spelling?) Dunst as Scarlett (she'd have to dye her hair though!). They would be, or at least look, about the right age for the part, and resemble the original actors. I love Gone With the Wind, it's my favorite movies, so just a fun question to ponder and wanted to know what others thoughts were!! :)

I know a remake would never be as good as the original, I never said I would want them to remake it! :) It's just something to think about.

People please pay attention to the question. I love the original as well, nobody can replace what Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable did for that move, it's just a what if.

Matthew McConaughy ( however you spell it )....he already has an authentic accent and the necessary good looks.
Reese Witherspoon....she can play a spoiled little rich girl to the hilt.

I really enjoy good old movies and I don't believe there any actors or actresses who could ever approach the acting which Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh produced in Gone With The Wind. Perhaps there some who may have the looks to do so, but I've been watching movies for a long time and I just don't see any substitutes.

For Rhett, either George Clooney or Pierce Brosnan.
For Scarlet, Catherine Zeta Jones or Angelina Jolie
For Lesley, Brad Pitt
For Lesley's wife, Kiera Knightly

I kinda think Ashley Judd would make a good Scarlett. She's got the sort of innocent exterior and fiery spirit that Vivian Leigh had, though I suppose she's a bit too old now.
As for Rhett, I think Johnny Depp could pull it off. He's got Clark Gable's charm and swagger, and he's a tremendous actor.

Tom Selleck, maybe. How about Catherine Zeta Jones as Scarlett?

JB and that i designed and equipped this component from scratch. I drove it. The North American Land crusing association inspected it, instrumented it, witnessed our runs, and finally presented us a international list for going promptly downwind at 2.8X wind speed, secure-state. i'm guessing the point of those questions isn't to have human beings make random guesses as to how and no matter if it quite works. It does artwork - as defined in countless places on the web.

Gone With The Wind is my favorite book and movie of all time,so I don't even think of them making a remake because it would suck compared to the original.

They made a sequel to it a few years ago and I thought the actors were good matches to the originals. (looks wise)

Joanne Whalley-Kilmer played Scarlett
Timothy Dalton played Rhett

other good choices would be

Charlize Theron
Keanu Reeves
