Everywhere I go, it seems people are always making sly, bad references to marriage. They talk about it as though it's an unfortunate event, that the couple become "constrained" and are binded to one another, and how it takes away joy, etc.

Now, I'm obviously too young to be married (I'm almost seventeen), but I would like to know... why do people say this? Is that the reality?

It has always been my dream to be married, to start a wonderful family and to care for them and raise them well. Surely that is joyful? Surely that alone is a great accomplishment?

And surely, shouldn't one be happy?

I would say it is not the marriage itself, but the failing relationship that makes being married so unappealing. And the struggle to get out of that failing relationship is a lot harder when you are married.

Marriage itself should and can be a wonderful thing. I think too many people jump into marriage thinking it will work out before really getting to know their spouse, or, ignoring present problems that escalate into huge blowouts once they are married.

My advice, make sure the one is really the one.... go to counseling before to work out any issues before taking the leap. And most of all, make sure that this huge lifelong commitment really will make you happy the rest of your long long life.

Sure everyone should be happy in
Marraige, but Love only last but so
long the rest is tolorence. If you stay
married for a long period of time, and
one of you cheats. Love turns to Hate.
If you stay together,That's tolorence
not Love. Love & Hate the same coin.
People say SEX has nothing to do with
love, but when the sex dies so does LOVE.
And in walks Mr.Tolorence. Some women
stay married for the sake of the children,
but that is not LOVE, She tolorates HIM.

Yes, marriage is great; however in all great things one must work to make it great. It does not just happen. One can not marry another thinking that one will make the other happy all the time. It is a lifetime partnership.

I would love to get married, but just about every guy I meet seems to think I should be grateful that he as a male has noticed me. Some of their egos are unbelievable. That's why I'm turned off by marriage.

You have a normal healthy mind about it. So many people want the benefits without the commitement. To have a good marriage, you have to work at it everyday of your life. It doesn't happen without effort.

i think that the people who are making bad remarks on being married have obviously had a bad experience, but if you notice, most of us try again. many people have been married more that once, at least some of us have faith in the opposite sex. me, i've been married for a year this october and am thoroughly enjoying myself and my husband. its not all bad, its just that most people dont want to apply themselves to another person permanently, so please, dont let someone elses remarks ruin it for you.

Do marry! Don't listen to what people say. You have to make your own life and it is you who can make marital life happier. Find a compatible spouse.

Marriage prevents spouses to look for sinful ways to satisfy their desires and is a symbol of chastity and loyalty.

I hate it when people say those kinds of things because it's like, if your marriage sucks as bad as you say it does, why not get a damn divorce instead of spoiling it for everyone else?
