I live in California (I heard the law varies by state) and I'm 15 and I'm a high school sophomore. But I will turn 16 by January. Can I get a work permit from the school counselor even though I'm only 15?

In California, you can get a work permit between 12 to 17. So your fine. The only time you can get one under 12 is if it is in show business (films, movies, tv shows, etc.) It's good that you are getting a job, good experience and stuff. Where are you planning to work? Hope you enjoy it!

I would think so. I got mine when I was 15, but I live in VA. So I'm not sure about CA, but you should be able to.
