As far as child molesters go, I don't think they can be.
As far as murderers go, I'm sure the rehabilitation process can be influenced a great deal by the background of each individual case.

No on the child molesters, yes to murderers. Molesters have an attraction to children and that will never stop. They might quit molesting, but the attraction will always be there. I believe that murderers can be rehabilitated just for the simple fact that while drunk, my brother accidentally shot his girlfriend, the mother of his child. He was thinking about commiting suicide, and when she came to stop him, he was trying to demonstrate that the gun did not have any bullets, but unknown to him, it had 1 bullet loaded.
He's been in prison since 2001 and I just visited him a month ago and he's a completely different person, for the better. He got his GED, has taken college courses, and has found his God. So yes, I do believe murderers can be rehabilitated. Some of them have acted out of rage and paid dearly, or were not clearly thinking when they shot someone.
As for serial killers, they have a taste for a murder, but we'll never know if they can be rehabilitated because they automatically go on death row once proven guilty.

I don't think you can lump all killers into the same mold as child molesters. No, I don't think child molesters or some murderers can be rehabilitated.
Lots of murderers can be and I think some don't need to be. I'm sure you can come up with lots or hypothetical reasons someone might kill but have, what we consider justifiable reasons. Some of those people still go to jail though. Even if you believe these people were wrong and need to be punished, you can't argue they need 'rehabilitation.

There are those who feel they can be. Personally, I think murderers should be executed. While I was against this for years, why should we spend thousands of tax dollars a year to support these animals. Male child molesters should be castrated. There are too many instances where a person has been considered rehabilitated and then turned around and did it again.

I think that their crimes are EXTREMELY DIFFERENT.
I think people who murder can be rehabilitated in some cases, but, I have my doubts about child molesters.
Often murder happens because of substance abuse, and often it is murder of a family member (like OJ).
The person may never murder again.
Child molesters, on the other hand, seem to have ingrained psychological tendancies which don't go away.

Murderers maybe. Child molesters, why give them a chance
It really doesn't matter if they can be rehabilitated or not. They've done what they've done and rehab won't reverse it. I believe VERY strongly in capital punishment for both.

if a murder has been committed as self defence or to protect family then quite possibly yes;
perpetrators of pre determined crimes - very unlikely
I know/knew a guy who murdered his wife some years back in the heat of an argument ; he is basically a decent guy & I had no hestitation in talking to him when I saw him in a shop once he had been released . he was an acquaintance rather than a friend.
certainly some murderers should be immediatley tortured the same way they tortured their victims
child molesters - probably not

No because a povert is a povert.. They need to be put to death because it's a bad habit they will always have. Even if they say that they are know longer that way.
I would not trust my children around them at all..... This is why I am so cautious about child molesters. I do not leave my daughter out of my site. Only when she goes too school.. She is only 3 but I know things is going to be harder when she is older..

No I do not think they can be rehabilitated completely. I do think that some people do things under the influence of drugs, desperation, being abused themselves, etc. So, I suppose with ALOT of remorse and therapy, a few could change, but not in general.
