For Desktops, I do like Dell. But HP, Compaq and Gateway are good too. The idea is cheap parts and RESTORE disk. You see, a computer is useless without the Restore disk. Adequate slots for expansion are necessary.

For Notebooks/Laptops, I would pick Toshiba. But HP and Compaqs are good. Dells are JUNKY, I would never refer someone to a Dell Laptop and their exploding batteries. But I have also found that Dell Laptops have weak keyboards and flaky mousepads. If you get a Laptop LEMON, you are stuck with it. Where the heck was Ralph Nader when we needed him?

I have a Sony VAIO and it's the best computer I've ever owned (and I have had about 20). But I have never had an Alienware, which I hear is pretty good too. Also, if you're talking about laptops, Toshiba is really good to.
