I had the same problem with one of my children. I turned to my pediatrician for advice. He told me to offer the child what we were having for the specific meal. If the child ate it great, and if not don't offer him anything else. The doctor said soon enough the child will realize that he should eat when he gets food. I was worried about this because I thought I would starve my child, but the doctor said it is impossible. I tried it and it did work!

Try vegetables that tend to be sweet (sweet green peas, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots). you can sprinkle a Little cinnamon and sugar on some vegi's and they turn out really well. Peanut butter is a good protein, has a sweet taste and is good for him. Just make sure that you know that he is not allergic to peanuts. Also, it's not a vegi, but they are loaded with vitamins and minerals - Multi-grain Cheerios {they come in the purple and white box}. they also have a sweet taste. Good Luck!

At that age they are so picky about food. As long as he is not getting sugar and pop, he's probably ok. As far as veggies, I got my son to eat green beans by adding a little sugar on them after they were cooked. It adds a little flavor that they like. I've also heard of other parents hiding veggies or meat in other food so it's not right on top and they don't really see it. My kids were too smart for that though.

My 15 month old is such a picky eater! I try my hardest to get him to eat proteins, veggies, etc. Sometimes he will, sometimes he won't. I feel it's important that they eat, even if it doesn't seem to be the most well balanced diet. Children at this age show their independence by the foods that they will or will not eat. Don't force them, just continue trying. Also, you could try Pediasure for vitamins, minerals you feel they're not getting, or my doctor recommended a multivitamin (she said to give my son half a vitamin) everyday to supplement what he's missing in his diet.

My folks used to have to take a small spoonfull of veggies and dip it in the fruit baby food to get me to eat it.
Other wise, try sweeter veggies like squash, sweet potatoes, or carrots. sprinkle with a little brown sugar and even I'll eat it.

Mix the good stuff that he won't eat into the sweet stuff gradually until he eats it all.

Fruit and yogurt are not bad foods for him.'

Mix sweets with his foods. Like Hot dogs and mac and cheese. Or turkey with sweet potatoes. Try to combine sweet and savory aspects.
