The original Poseidon movie, the "Poseidon Adventure" came out in 1972, and starred Shelley Winters, as well as a slew of other big name stars from that era in Hollywood. "Disaster" flicks were all the rage in the 70's, as evident by the other titles like "The Towering Inferno" and "Earthquake."
