I would check all the vacuum lines to see if one has come loose. I believe the four wheel drive is operated by vacuum.

It was designed to drive in 4 wheel drive so there's nothing wrong

well im not too sure with subarus, but arent they suppose to be all wheel drive ?so theyre suppose to be in all wheel drive at all times!

Be thankful it drives at all. That model didn't have a good reputation for durability.

Could be a stripped hub, put it in 2wd and check if axle is turning.

yes, it is an AWD (all wheel drive) car.
