do you think older people should have to re-take their driver's test?

i think once you hit 65 or 70 you should have to re-take it every year...old people are scary behind the wheel. what do you think?

Excellent idea. Most people these days who are in their 60s are still fairly capable. I think that 70 should be the age for annual testing. It would certainly make the roads safer.

As a lady who will be 65 in about 6 wks, my answer is yes, I do think they should be road tested every year. When you hit a certain age, reflexes slow down(for most folks), You don't see or hear quite as well etc. Sooooo, while this doesn't fit us all, it fits enough of us that I think it would be a very good idea.

I agree with you 100%, some of them cant see or are not in good physical shape to drive anymore. I would say 70+ need to be re-tested.

I think at age 75, if they are still driving, there should be random "follow testing" meaning a plain car will follow one of these older drivers for a half hour and make an assessment based upon that.

I followed my father on the highway recently unbeknownst to him, that is how I thought of this means of testing....

I think the driving test should be required every 10 yrs. Also, If someone recieves a moving violation... a re-take should be required before they can renew it!

Too many of them are getting into accidents by hitting the gas instead of the brakes.

I think anyone over 50 should be banned from driving and have to take the bus.

yes, but it should start around 60 and not just the written one they should have to do ride along driving test.
