i guess the best part would be to wait it out. The enlarged ears are hell...the sounds you hear are agonizing...
the next time the legs situation happens, just say that you are comparing your wife's legs to the others. and make a statement like: "Her legs are not as nice as yours." etc...
hopefully that will work. she may think you are BS-ing her, but she may like the compliment.
