Check your oil level first before cranking again.
Seriously, I had mine changed a month ago and within two days all of the oil was gone. It turns out they didn't remove the oil filter gasket from the old filter when replacing it... so there were TWO in there. It sprayed every drop of oil out under the car. I took it to another mechanic who discovered the error and did a pressure check to make sure there was no damage to the engine.

This is simple they just did not reset the oil life index. Depends on what type of car you have there are many ways to do this. Lets say you have a Chevy truck or pre 2001 Chevy car. Most of these you turn the key forward to the on position and press the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times and wait for change oil light to blink. Lets say you have a Monte Carlo 2001 or newer. Using the radio. make sure the key is in the on position and then turn radio off. Hold down the tune button for around 15 seconds until "settings" is displayed next to the clock. Once it says settings push the right seek scan arrow once. then push the #2 button then push tune again. Then to get out hit the left seek scan arrow 2 times and then push display. OK now lets say you have a Honda. You need to have thee key off then push the trip button in and hold it while turning the key to the on position. Hold it for about 5 seconds then th light should blink and go off. Cadillac hit info until it shows oil life then hold down reset. there are many more but I could be here all night explaining them all. If it is not one of these cars let me know what it is and I can tell you.

If it is a Ford Tarus with 4 or 6 cyl engine, .... make sure it is full of oil of course. If it is still full, - then take it to the Ford dealer and have it checked out very soon! The oil pump could be getting the screen plugged up (it has happened to thousands of them) if you keep driving it will ruin the bearings pretty soon! Then a new or rebuilt engine is in order! The restriction of flow makes the engine computer think the oil is full of "gunk" and restricting the flow! Lack of flow means the same thing to the computer either way,- sometimes the oil pressure light will "flick" occasionally -sometimes not. When the flow is over 90% stopped the light will stay on steady!

One of my daughters had this happen to a 4 & a 6, - (just lucky I guess)!

no longer a extensive deal right here you could force it with the present oil yet another 3000 miles if like i wud no longer pass to any extent further i might save on with changing each 3000 miles and 5000 to 6000 miles oil differences isn't the worst undertaking although the two. besides the fact that checking the oil is at suitable point is fundamental as for the time of a 3000 mile oil substitute even a clean engine can lose oil in this sort of evaporation because of the higer temps new vehicle engines run at. yet like reported very small volume no longer even 0.5 a quart

Take it straight to get looked at. If there is a look or low oil you could destroy your motor by driving. I would recommend changing your own oil because most places have idiots working there besides the fact that it is so easy and much cheaper to do it yourself.

I agree with Mommy2. You need to reset the oil change indicator light. It's easy and you can do it yourself. Just look in the manual that came with your car for directions on how to do it.

usually it means someone didn't set the oil change minder and the poster rwings8215 and most said, you need to read the owners manual to reset , but most oil change plces worth their weight (sorry for the pun fellow mechanics) will reset it for free as they normally are supposed to do that for you.

Ford is usually rest thru the trip odometer by pushing the button till it says oil change and then holding the button when it does show the % mark....

I would take the vehicle back to the organization that installed it.
Check your oil level before you drive any further, perhaps they didn't put the "plug" back in properly and its leaking.
Also check for oil dripping when your car is parked. Also, perhaps oil could be leaking from the filter. CHECK your oil level before you drive any further, if you oil is low, you could seriously damage your engine. Good Luck

Check your manual and see how to reset it. When you get an oil change anywhere other than the dealer you have to reset the timer yourself. On my car you hold in the trip meter reset button while turning the key on and you hold it about 5 seconds.

Sometimes they actually change the oil, sometimes not. Next time insist that you watch them do it. A lady can always use charm to "see what is really a car thing" and do not cut them any slack. And be sure the filter is changed at the same time.
